Humanistic values such as kindness, compassion and respect are central to my way of working and I am welcoming of people from all backgrounds, cultures, identities and orientations. I provide therapeutic support for clients (individuals, couples and families) experiencing a wide range of issues including:
Relationship problems
Family issues
Grief and loss
Anxiety, depression, anger, stress
Life transitions and adjustment issues
Trauma
Abuse issues
Sexuality and gender identity issues
Work/career related issues
Religious or spiritual issues
My therapeutic approach is underpinned by person-centred theory and values. This means being responsive to the whole person, drawing on existing strengths and support, being attuned to client’s needs and experiences, and believing in human propensity toward growth.
I view the relationship between the client and myself as central to therapy and this informs my understanding of my clients and their presenting issues. I also incorporate Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy approaches into my work.
Insight Therapy also focuses on building awareness in the now – allowing insight. Particularly around longer-term patterns, scripts and roles that we (consciously and unconsciously) adopt, sometimes from our childhood or early experiences that may be unhelpful or even harmful to us in the present.
